I’ve been a huge fan of Ms. Wade’s books and the Porter Family series, in particular. Throughout the novels, I always wondered how she would beat the excellence of her previous works and she has always come through. However, I recognized that Dru Porter’s story would need to be absolutely unique and compelling to fit the character’s personality. After reading an early release copy of Her One and Only, I can reassure readers that they will not be left disappointed. Ms. Wade masterfully develops Dru’s story, while interweaving further details of the other Porter family members, especially Meg from Undeniably Yours. This novel goes to prove why Ms. Wade has emerged as an award-winning author in the contemporary Christian fiction genre, as she once again pushes the boundaries of her own writing and character development to create a larger-than-life cast fit to order for a series set in the wide-world of Texas.

I have been looking forward to Dru's story for quiet a while! Maybe since she was first introduced, and Wade did not disappoint! In fact, Wade came up with a slam dunk of a story! I loved the premise and the story lived up to all it promised and more! Unlike her previous novels, this one had an element of mystery/suspense. She carried this through the story well, and it was the perfect dose.

Dru is quite a bit different than your usual gal but you can't help but like her. She is tough and strong but with just the right amount of heart and vulnerability. And Gray, you will find him very easy to root for! I liked their chemistry, the banter and tension between them practically leapt off the page! Don't take that the wrong way, because this was a clean read, unless you can't handle some steamy kisses (wink).

Wade had a theme woven throughout this novel, of letting go and trusting God. The truths she brought the characters to and through felt very organic to both their character and the story. And this was true with both Dru and Gray, as well as the secondary story of Meg and Bo (told from Meg's perspective). While I like Meg and Bo, and I enjoyed getting to visit with them again, I have to say that I sort of wish their story would have been told in a separate novella. Meg's parts would pop up right after a key point in Dru/Gray's story and I really just wanted to stick with the main story. I found myself skimming through Meg's parts more often than not, in order to get back to the main storyline. I will say that I did enjoy seeing how things wrapped up for Meg and Bo at the end. However, Dru and Gray's story was definitely the one that had me on the edge of my seat and giddy to see how it would end.

Overall, a highly enjoyable novel and a wonderful wrap up to the series!
I have been binge reading this series as I just recently discovered Ms. Wade. I originally owned one book and now I have all but one of her books. I loved this book and am seriously sad to see it end. I loved each of these stores. This book was a clear departure including a suspenseful storyline. If Ms. Wade was going to really tell the story of the youngest Porter I felt the story would need to be powerful. I really liked this and felt the ability of Ms. Wade to write suspense was strong. What I felt was even stronger was to reference the first characters in the "Porter" series and really take the time to complete the story of Meg and Bo. I absolutely loved this book because of this dual storyline. I really wanted to know what was happening with each of the Porter children if this is the last book. I loved both Dru and Gray. Dru was going to need a very strong partner as she was such a strong presence. The story would also need to be intense to match the personalities of Dru and Gray. Both were covered with skillful writing precision. I also liked the epilogue BUT I did have a couple of small issues in that area. As this was the final book in the series I really expected to have a little bit more offered about each of the Porter children. Dru, Gray, Bo, and Meg really had time spent giving the reader a lovely look into what the future held for them. I also felt that Ty's story was really given a lovely finish within the story. Although time was spent on Jake and Lyndie I really did feel that this was one area where I wanted more offered for them. Perhaps a family or something but I did not see it except references to his looking happier. Happy is a good thing for this haunted man but I really loved his story and felt it needed to be given a bit more in the epilogue. I would also love to know what the plan was for Dru and Gray after the epilogue. My feelings did not diminish my enjoyment. I would still read this story and perhaps will read it again. I guess I could hope that the author would one day write a holiday novella so we could really see what happened to each of these wonderful couples. Each of these books were well received so I could see her readers enjoying the possibility of spending time with the Porters. I certainly know I would! denise bailey
